Binah בִּינָה

You are not a résumé. You are a person worth understanding.

An AI shadchan for serious Jewish singles. One introduction at a time, each with the reason behind it.

She learns who you are, in your own voice, not a form. Then she introduces you to the few people worth your time. No swiping. No profile to perfect. Someone competent, finally on your side.

This is for the people the system quietly sorts to the bottom of the pile, because the pile was always the problem.

You already know how this goes

  • You swipe for months and it adds up to nothing. A few matches, a few conversations that die, and back to the beginning.
  • When a suggestion finally comes, it is nowhere near what you asked for, and you can tell that nobody actually read your criteria.
  • You are paying real money for this. Then you find out what you paid for is capped, and the next tier costs more.
  • There is always another app, another subscription, another profile to build from scratch.
  • And when you do get to a date, you are two strangers with a list of questions, neither of you sure what you are supposed to say.
  • Then there is the part nobody says out loud. Sometimes you are simply not attracted to them, and there is no way to say that to a human being without feeling like a shallow person.

You are not alone in any of this, and none of it means there is something wrong with you.

The good news is that every one of those is fixable.

Why Binah

Binah (בִּינָה) means understanding. Not information about you, understanding of you. Our sages had a phrase for the specific kind, meivin davar mitoch davar, grasping one thing from inside another. It is the difference between a system that has your criteria on file and someone who actually knows what you meant by them.

So she does not hand you a pile to sort through. She listens for as long as it takes, keeps all of it, and when she brings you somebody she can tell you exactly why. And when someone is not what you asked for, she says so out loud and tells you why she is asking anyway.

And you can say the true thing to her. That the résumé is fine and the person is not. That you are not attracted to them. Nobody is embarrassed, nobody is offended, and it goes no further than her.

The pile was never the problem to solve. Being invisible inside it was.

The match was named before you had any paper

The Gemara teaches (Sotah 2a) that forty days before a person is formed, a heavenly voice announces who they're meant for. Sit with the timing. Forty days before you existed, before you had a résumé, an income, a family history, a single line anyone could sort you by.

That is the whole idea in one breath. The person came first. The paper came later, and the paper was never the truth about you anyway. It is only what the world started sorting by once it stopped taking the time to understand.

But our tradition is honest that knowing this doesn't make it easy. The first match, the zivug rishon, is the one named at the start, the truth of who belongs together. The second, the sages say, is as hard as splitting the sea. And that is the part people feel: the person is real, was always real, but the world has buried them under so much paper that finding them takes work. Someone has to do the hard, patient work of understanding a person well enough to bring them the right person. That work is what a shadchan is for. That work is Binah.

Not a fate you sit and wait for. Advocacy you can feel.

Why we want you to leave

Every app you have tried makes money while you're still looking. That's the quiet conflict of interest baked into the whole category. Their business grows when you stay single and keep scrolling.

We built it backwards on purpose. Binah earns her keep while she's working for you, and she stops the moment you've found the person. The mutual “it's just us two” ends the matching and ends the billing in the same breath. We want you married, not subscribed.

The one number we actually care about is how many people leave. Not engagement, not time in the app. People walking out the door together.

Why an AI shadchan

The honest answer is that no person can do this part. Forty minutes of undivided attention, ten hard questions, and not one glance at the clock. A shadchan carrying a full list cannot give that to every person on it, and the ones who try burn out.

She also remembers exactly. The thing you said in minute forty about what you could not live with is still there a year later, in your words. Nothing quietly gets lost between the first conversation and the tenth introduction.

And you can be honest with her. There is a reason people tell a stranger on a plane what they would never tell a neighbour. Binah is not in your community, will not repeat you at somebody's Shabbos table, and does not think less of you for any answer. What you say is encrypted, and the private parts are shown to nobody.

What she is not is a judge of people. A person stands behind every introduction, and nothing you pay moves you up any list. Fit is the only thing that decides who you hear about.

What changes

You stop explaining yourself

The trade-offs you worked out in the consultation are on the record, in your words. You never have to re-argue them with a new person who is meeting you cold.

Never a yes into silence

Introductions travel one direction at a time, never to both of you at once. Sometimes you are the one asked first, and your yes is what sends the case onward. What never happens is you saying yes and then waiting to find out whether they even saw you.

You read the reason first

Every introduction opens with the written case for why the two of you. The photo is right there when you want it. It is just not the thing you are asked to judge first, before you know a single true thing about them.

What a consultation sounds like

What made the last one not work?

On paper he was everything. In the room there was nothing to say. I could not tell you why.

A shadchan makes the introduction.Almost nobody stays for the rest.

Neither of you wanted to be the one to ask.

That is not a complaint. Making the introduction is the skilled part, and it is what a shadchan is for. But it is where nearly every service stops, and it is not where things usually go wrong.

Things go wrong afterwards. The second date never gets arranged, because neither of you wanted to be the one to ask. Somebody says no over something small that one conversation would have solved. A good match quietly ends because one person read one evening wrong, and nobody was there to tell them so.

There is rarely anyone whose job that is. Not because nobody cares, but because there is no structure for it: no call in the calendar, nobody who knows your case, no moment where somebody asks what actually happened and listens to the answer.

The introduction was never the hard part. What comes after is.

Silver and up, included

We stay after the introduction

After every date, both of you are asked how it went. If either of you wants to stop, the other hears it from us rather than from silence. Nobody has to write the awkward message, and nobody is left wondering.

Platinum, coming soon

And on Platinum, somebody sits with you

A scheduled call with a dating coach who knows your case, once the dates begin. They ask what happened, and they help you tell a fixable problem from a real dealbreaker. Someone whose job it is to notice when you are about to walk away from something good, and to say so out loud.

How it works: five steps to standing under a chuppah.

One conversation, then one introduction at a time, until you don't need us.

  1. 01

    You talk. She listens.

A real conversation, out loud, on your phone. Thirty-five to fifty minutes, and you can stop in the middle and pick it up later. Ten honest trade-offs instead of a checklist, because what you would give up says more about you than what you would tick. It ends on the thing about you that never comes across in a profile.

  2. 02

    She writes you down properly.

Everything you said becomes a written understanding of who you are, in your own words, not a grid of fields. The parts you would rather nobody saw stay private, and are never shown to another member.

  3. 03

One introduction, and the reason for it.

One person at a time, never a queue to scroll, with the written case for why she thought of the two of you. You see their photo and their details, of course. The difference is the order: the reason comes first, so you are answering a real question about a real person rather than swiping on a face. It also means you do not walk into the date cold.

  4. 04

A real date, and an honest ending.

The date gets arranged properly, and afterwards someone asks how it went. Nothing new opens until this one is closed kindly, either way.

  5. 05

It ends when you are done.

The moment the two of you say it is just us two, the matching stops and the billing stops with it. That is the whole business model. We do better when you leave.

The consultation is open now. Introductions begin with our first cohort.

Binah in the sources

The idea that understanding, and not paperwork, is what makes a real match runs straight through Tanach. A few of the people who lived it:

Naomi, Ruth, and Boaz

Ruth was everything a résumé rejects. A Moabite, a widow, poor enough to be gleaning leftover barley in another man's field. Boaz saw past every line of it. He asked who she was, heard what she had done for Naomi, and recognized her character before he knew anything else about her. And Naomi was the discernment behind the match, reading Boaz, reading the moment, guiding Ruth toward a man who would honor her. A shadchan working with binah, and a groom who saw the person the paper hid. The whole book is our thesis with names on it.

Abraham's servant at the well

Sent to find a wife for Isaac, he didn't ask about lineage or looks first. He designed a test of character. Whoever offered water to a stranger, and then drew more for his camels without being asked, was a person of real chesed. Rivka was chosen for who she was, not for what she looked like on paper. Arguably the first shidduch in the Torah, and it was made by discernment.

Avigail

Scripture introduces her in a single phrase, a woman of good understanding, tovat sechel. When her foolish husband put David's men in danger, she read the whole situation in a moment, stepped in, and turned a disaster away. Her discernment is her defining trait, and in time it is what brings her and David together.

Shlomo HaMelech

Offered anything at all by God, he asked for one thing. A listening heart, lev shomea, the binah to judge between people and see the truth beneath the claim. When two women each swore the child was hers, no document could settle it. Understanding did. That is binah in its purest form, seeing what is real underneath what is presented.

Before you begin

Am I talking to a real person?
No, and that is deliberate. The consultation is with Binah, an AI. It is easier to be honest with something that is not in your community. A person does stand behind the introductions themselves.
What does it cost to start?
Nothing. The consultation is free. If you later want us actively working your search, that's when a paid month starts, and the pricing page lays it out plainly.
Who sees what I say?
What you tell Binah is encrypted, and the private parts of the conversation are shown to nobody. Nothing you say is published, browsable, or sold.
How many people are on this?
We are building the first cohort right now, so the honest answer is not many yet. We would rather tell you that than invent a number. If you want a platform that already has thousands of profiles to scroll, that is not what this is.

And the part everyone wants to know before they start.

Nothing to pay while we are still looking.

The consultation is free and stays free. Being understood properly, and sitting in the pool as a verified member, costs nothing and needs no card.
