The pile was always the problem.

Picture how the whole category actually works. Age, height, income, family, hashkafa, all of it ranked and filtered. You become a row in a spreadsheet, and the spreadsheet decides who ever sees you. When your paper isn't tidy, and real people rarely are, you slide to the bottom and stay invisible there. That was never a personal failing. It was the machine doing exactly what it was built to do.

There's a quieter problem underneath it. Every app you have tried makes money while you're still looking. Their business grows when you stay single and keep scrolling. The conflict of interest is baked in. The longer you're on the pile, the better their month.

Binah is the answer to both. Binah (בִּינָה) means understanding, and the sages named a specific kind, meivin davar mitoch davar, grasping one thing from inside another. It's what a good shadchan does: she reads the person, not the profile. She listens until she actually understands you, carries that understanding to the person who'd recognize it, and tells them why.

So we built it backwards on purpose. Binah earns her keep while she's working for you, and she stops the moment you've found your person. The mutual “it's just us two” ends the matching and ends the billing in the same breath. The one number we care about is how many people walk out the door together. We want you married, not subscribed.

Our tradition has been saying this the whole time. Forty days before you were formed, the Gemara teaches, a voice announced who you were meant for. Before you had a résumé, an income, a single line anyone could sort you by, the match was already spoken. The person comes first. The paper comes later. The paper was never the truth about you anyway.
